HOW WE CREATE

STEP 1. WE LISTEN & LEARN

1 HOUR MEETING

Let’s get to know each other. More than just hearing about your project, we need to get to know you and your brand’s story—that’s the secret to capturing your unique voice. What are your goals? What makes you stand above the competition? Hearing your story straight from you allows us to generate a custom-tailored campaign for your business that matches your brand’s personality. The end result will be unique, impassioned and leave the audience feeling like your brand was talking directly to them.

ABOUT AUTOMATON

(AU·TOM·A·TON)

In 2009, we set off to create a new kind of video company, run by filmmakers, driven by cinematic storytelling, a collective of video advertising passion. We specialize in creating original video content that tells an interesting story creatively. This adventure in video has come to be called Automaton.

Our core focus working with major entertainment and media brands affords us a broad expertise across content marketing, advertising, and filmmaking.

When creating our video concepts, we focus on delivering the rich visual storytelling that viewers have come to expect from their most trusted brands.

But mostly, we love video and want to have a million of its babies. We execute productions across the disciplines of live action performance, animation, motion graphics, visual effects, and video documentation.

Automaton Creative was founded by Rene Amador and Jocelyn Hsu. In 2002, they created one of the first viral web videos to get millions of views. In the next decade, more than 150 companies approached them to create video content for their brands, and now enjoy serving as de facto web video experts.

Rene Amador
Creative Director

Rene has 15 years experience as a filmmaker, digital marketer, and creative director. He got his start creating one of the first online viral video hits, Real Ultimate Power, which got 3 million views back in 2002 (Ki-yah!). He’s worked on the marketing for major releases like Transformers, TMNT, The Good German, American Idol, and more. Since cofounding Automaton, Rene’s completed over 150 campaigns for brands like Verizon, Starbucks, AT&T, Fox, LEGO, Universal, Honda, and Playboy. Rene's obsession with making viral content started as a teenager when he competed in the infamous Something Awful Photoshop Phridays, where he unwittingly helped create the image macro ``meme`` (he's sorry).

Jocelyn Hsu
Executive Producer

Jocelyn has worked behind the scenes at Fox on some of the most engaging unscripted TV properties, including American Idol, The X Factor, MasterChef, So You Think You Can Dance, and more. She's also made her mark running the Live App experience for NBC's hit shows The Voice and America’s Got Talent. Since co-founding Automaton, she’s produced hundreds of commercial campaigns, shorts, and original series content. Jocelyn also created and manages her own blog network, The Unaccomplished Lady, which covers lifestyle topics written by very accomplished women. She keeps it real by being an avid gamer, swinging kettlebells, and holding yoga poses.
